Kharaa - Fruit Plantation
As the SGP Mongolia intends to rehabilitate former fruit farms in several selected places, based on local communities, the Nature Research Centre takes an initiative to produce fruit seedlings to supply other on-going and new projects with two years old seedlings at much lower prices. The grant was given to the NGO to establish a fruit tree nursery to produce 50,000 fruit seedlings every year. Over the first growing season of 2005, 12 types of some 70,000 fruit and other tree seedlings have been raised from seeds. Moreover, it is amazing that willow trees have been rehabilitated themselves naturally. The project implementation area is fast growing to be a recreation area for Darkhan town residents. From next spring, the raised seedlings will be sold to others, making some good profits to the Nature Research Centre, the local NGO
