Community based conservation of Hustain Nuruu National Park and medicinal plants in its buffer zone.
Valuable natural resources like rare and medicinal plants are rapidly being depleted over the last 15 years. There are even more threats to them to be destroyed for minor market benefits, mostly for the Chinese market.

The objective of the grant is introduce a sustainable harvesting practive for medicinal herbs and to establish a small workshop at Altanbulag sum centre to prepare traditional medicines for selling to local patients.

By the end of the project, there has been established a small workshop to process medicinal herbs to meet local needs. A wide variety of educational and awareness raising activities have been conducted among several local communities including sum government and budget organizations workers.

200 copies of project leaflet and other educational materials were distributed among local people in Altanbulag sum. It is expected that unsustainable hervesting and destruction of rare medicinal herbs will much reduced. Local patients are first beneficiaries to use cheap and relaible natural medicines, while nature benefits from more wise harvesting ever before.
