Glen Forest Training Initiatives
Glen Forest Training Centre is an institution involved in promotion of and training in sustainable agriculture. It is this expertise that it will disseminate to various NGOs, CBO and groups associated with the SGP's activities in Zimbabwe. This project will focus on supporting communities in understanding and implementing GEFSGP Focal areas.Through training , the project will strengthen the capacity of community groups to implement projects that address issues of biodiversity conservation, climate change, international rivers and cross cutting issues such as livelihood improvement.
Project objectives
-to sup-port communities in the adequate understanding and implementation of projects which will address the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme.
-to build capacity at community level
-to enhance food production and sustain communities livelihoods
-to promote ecologically sustainable development through trainig in natural resources management
Activities to be carried out
-pre-course training visits to CBOs
-trainig in the major themes of GEFSGP
-training in catchment area management, landuse systems,agroforestry and permaculture,tree care, crop production and marketing, monitoring and evaluation.
Project participants and beneficiaries
-Participants are the local community groups who implement the projects and training.Beneficiaries will be the local communities involved as well as extension workers in the areas who will be exposed to the training.
Anticipated results
-CBOs that are well trained and able to effictively carry out projects which address the GEF thematic areas , leading to ecologically sustainable development , environmental protection and improved livelihoods.

Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
All the beneficiaries of the training delivered are rural based communities save for those institutions whose staff also receive the training.
