The project title ?Conserve and recover the biodiversity and environment of Kunar Riverbank?; The areas alongside riverbanks in Kunar are degraded lands which have all the potentials to be converted into productive land and recreation spots. SGP project enhance conservation and livelihoods of the local people by promotion of fruit and non-fruit trees and other economically valuable plants species in the areas. About 6000 trees planted by the community to decrease pressure on the forest resources and mitigate the climate change. The project provided provide sustainable source for irrigation of newly planted areas by construction of water reservoirs and installation of solar panels to pump the water from river to the upper land. Community knowledge improved on the value of water and its conservation for optimum agricultural use and converting barn land into green. About 8 plant nurseries established (4 fruits and non-fruits, and 4 MAPs). Communities are trained on value chain services, market linkages, dependencies on agriculture and climate resistant crops. Community based users groups are established and trained on nursery management. Good Neighborhood International provided the same grantee partner ?Orgnization for Humanitarian Relief (OCHR)? a grant of 50,000 in cash to replicate the project along the same river in different location.
