Strengthening Sustainable Environmental and Natural Resources Management
? Objectives:
a) To cooperate in a network both within Public health volunteer network and other civil society networks, including current government ministry
b) To provide a better understanding in the significant of natural resources, natural resources degradation problem, and climate change and its affect for members of Public health volunteer network who join the project
c) To expand forest area and create forest moisture, reduce burning process in open area, and restoration of biodiversity from improving rotated farm to agroforestry farming in family and restore community forest to make it more abundant. Also, creating check-dam protecting wildlife and marine life.
d) To provide enough food supplies, diversity, sustainable, and safety in food consuming for agricultural member in Public health volunteers network. Also, to encourage income earning from agroforestry farming in family, to reduce forest resources for instance, firewood and many others in a long term and focus on producing natural products from within agroforestry farming.
? Beneficial: 409 households
? Target area:
Mae-yao subdistrict, Muang district, Chiangrai province. The village is mixed with flat and hill area where people grow rice paddle in flat area and grow plants in terrace area
? Proposed activity:
a. Activity to strengthen community?s ability
i. Meeting to follow up the progress and conclude projects with Public health volunteer network.
ii. Educating on natural resources degraded problem, climate change problem and their affect, and agroforestry farming growth manual in hill-agricultural area.
b. Demonstration/Operation
i. Create community forest systematically for example, to create fire break, plant tree sprout, security patrol to prevent wildfire or forest fire, and illegal logging
ii. Build agroforestry farming in the family
c. Knowledge management activity (gather information, result, lessons learned, and experiences from the project)
i. Create platform to conclude lesson learned and follow up in each area of the committee?s work to distribute to the public
d. Participatory evaluation
i. Report presenting about the progress of the project and the finished project

a) Lahu tribe
b) Akha tribe
c) Pga K'nyau Karen tribe
