The project aims were achieved:
1. A number of informational and educational events were held for students of Khotyn, Kaniv and Rivne from October 2018 to June 2019. They were attended by more than 300 students who learned about the scale of plastic pollution, ways to avoid it and the need for sorting and recycling.
2. A round table meeting was organized in Ukrinform on the National Program for Waste Utilization and Processing, Problems of Production and Consumption Waste Management in Ukraine, and Kyiv, Kyiv Region, in particular, which took place on March 29, 2019, and facilitated the establishment of a working group of experts that made possible the development of a unified model of waste management.
3. The Working Group of Experts on developing a model of a single complex of waste management measures for Kyiv and Kyiv region, including plastic waste on a voluntary basis, was launched, and the first meeting of the group was held on April 19, 2019 to discuss possible approaches to household management.
4. Cooperation was established between the local authorities of Khotyn, Kaniv and Rivne, students, environmental NGOs, and residents of urban housing, which allowed the successful implementation of initiatives for the management of plastic waste in the future.
5. A training course on "Environmental safety in the management of production and consumption waste" was developed and conducted for 221 people ? civil servants, local government officials, representatives of enterprises and organizations.
6. A number of educational and informational materials were prepared and published: manual "Do good ? save food" (200 copies), practical manual "Services of household waste management in communities" (200 copies), set of educational materials "Create good: consume rationally food products" (1000 copies), guide-book "Basic issues of plastic pollution prevention" (300 copies), methodical recommendations for local government representatives on reduction of plastic pollution in communities (300 copies), information booklet on plastic pollution (100 copies). A Facebook page "Plastic Less" (facebook.com/plastic.less.ua) was created as a platform for communication and information on plastic pollution issues. It is regularly filled with news, informational and educational materials.
