Project goal: develop and ensure sustainable operation (in the project area) of an integrated system of ecological education on climate change prevention, mitigation and adaptation.
Project tasks:
1. Develop and ensure sustainable operation of the first-in-Viciebsk-Region regional ecological education center. 2. Inform local communities on climate change prevention, mitigation and adaptation issues, as well as on other relevant environmental issues. 3. Clear the Lastavi?skaje lake, in particular, the spawning grounds, from excessive vegetation (bulrush, acorus, their roots, algae) restricting access of ichthyofauna to the lake. The activity implementation provides for restoring access of ichthyofauna to their former spawning grounds in the Lastavichskaje lake.
Expected results:
Result 1: The first regional center for environmental education in Vitebsk region has been established and is functioning steadily. The ecological center is equipped with a modern solar system (solar collector). Reduced emissions of CO2 by 418 kg per year
Outcome 2: The level of awareness of the local community (at least 2,000 people) on the prevention, mitigation and adaptation to the effects of climate change, as well as other pressing issues of environmental protection, has been raised.
Result 3: As a result of clearing Lastavichskaje lake from excessive vegetation, local representatives of the ichthyofauna are fully accessible to the spawning place favorable for breeding - the preservation and sustainable development of populations of local fish species is ensured
