Tranch 1. a) Several trainings were undertaken including life skills and technical skills training to enhance knowledge on climate change as a concern and the remedies available to address this impacts. At least 1500 mangrove seedlings were also planted.
b) Partnership was established with St. Patrick Agro-technical high School, with participation from both teachers, students and neighboring community members-a total of 29 participants took part in an awareness workshop on climate change and
c) For the skill Training workshop, (STW) with the theme, Importance of Mangrove forest? these
interested trainers from Akivak, Lulakivi, Asivot, Amulus and Poronga, five (5) villages were brought in
to be informed and trained to go out on advocacy mission to their communities and other eight (8)
communities like Akam, Aviain, Aringring, Avirin, Akur, Anato, Kalaken and Ahu villages.
d) For the TOT workshop, the Trainers were brought in the the Earth care Mission Advocacy Centre at
Palaka, in the Ward 2 Gasmata LLG to be given the training. The theme is ?Methods of Mangrove
Planting?. The Trainers attended were Mr Ursula Kansi, Dulcy Aige, Doreene Luke, Genevy Nuia, Mrs
Clara Paranis, Mrs Joanitha Alfred, Mrs Mary Jimare, Mr paul Jimare, Mr Augustin Glengmen, Mr
Vincent Mopi, Mr Bernard Nemur, Mr Jacob Aipa, Mr Thomas Bugia- a total of thirteen (13)
participants.
e) First round of planting of mangrove seedlings numbering up to 1500 was undertaken on Alue Island with a total number of 15 women and 6 men participating.
Tranch 2.
During second tanch implementation, 3x skills training was rolled out and 2 Training of Trainers courses in four dirfferent locations was undertaken. A total of 680 females, youth and male participated.
Tranch 3
Continued construction of nursery and replanting activity took place. The GPS survey and reproting is yet to be submitted. Major lessons learnt was the planting of mangrove and destruction taking place, due to wave surges and its strong frequency against the plantings causing it to be washed away.
