Strengthening water supply coverage in the 6 Shehias in Zanzibar for improved water access and environment sanitation
Context:
Unclean and unsafe water is the key cause for morbidity and mortality in Zanzibar. Water borne diseases are rampant is Kikwajuni because most of the people use water from community-dug traditional water wells where water is neither safe nor clean. Under this project, a water pipeline will be extended for a distance of 27,000 meters and provide water delivery services to 25,677 people in six Shehias.

Tanzania Youth Icon (TAYI) is a youth organization. Its objective is to assist Youths engage in decent and gainful employment. It is also active in social services. It has on its record a project titled, safe water, which it implemented in Zanzibar with a high rate of success.
