Strengthening the Food Security and Climate Resilience of the People of Sonsorol State By Restoring the Productivity of Coconut Trees Through Control of the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle
The remote islands of Sonsorol State in Palau are facing grave risk to food security from the impacts of climate change, exacerbated by invasive species. As result of increasing sea level coupled with invasive species such as the CRB the islands? food security is at risk. This project, if implemented, will reduce the population of CRB on the islands to the point where the damage they cause will be negligible. In addition, it will build the community?s capacity to continue to control the CRB infestation on the islands of Sonsorol and Fanna and to address CRB on Merir Island.
