Community managed technology intervention in remote tribal areas.
Project aims to install micro rice mill and cost and energy efficient 3 pan jaggery units that cover 4 villages namely Lohadi, Teliyahi, Murma and Pandwa in Pandwa Blok of Palamau district in Jharkhand state. Through the installation of Jaggery unit, 150-170 quintals of jaggery is manufactured every year by establishing one of latest technology and energy efficient jaggery furnace (bhatti) and house hold income increased.Training programs were organized in the 4 project villages. 3 exposure visits were organized to have in field experience of
various activities in the area of project activities. 2 villagers have visited Muzaffarnagar along with officials of CTD( technology partner), to
Jaggery production units. About 52 women and 121 men were benefited from such programs.

Project Characteristics and Results
Project sustainability
10 women SHGs will manage the jaggery units. The income generated from the units will be utilized to make the system sustainable.
It is aimed to nurture such SHGs as Farmers Producer Group (FPO) in near future and to tie-up NABARD. SHGs are in the process of linking with banks credit facilities to develop their income generation opportunities further.
Capacity - Building Component
2 day Training on running of Jaggery production unit, rice and pulse mill and their installation organized in each of the target villages.
