Promotion of the well-being of inhabitants of mountain villages through the establishment of fisheries for the cultivation of valuable species of Amu-Darya trout in the Qaratag and Varzob rivers
In 2001 due to natural disasters, a landslide (mudslide), which resulted in 95 per cent of the river trout in the upper river Qaratag extinct from dirty water. This fact is supported by the conclusion of an examination by the State Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan and Forestry-Based Industrial Group "Tajikles" of 22.10.2001 and a letter from the Shahrinav district to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Okilov O.G., of 1 October 2002, No. 204.
