Objectives
? Installation of 50 Solar Energy Systems for 50 households in village Sukh Pur to provide Solar System where there is no grid electricity
? CO members (Youth and women) are trained on organizational and O&M of solar schemes
? To reduce 50% use of kerosene oil for the targeted households
? To improve the quality of life through electrification for 50 rural households
? To provide home lights to rural, remote areas 300 people who do not have access to grid electricity
? To provide additional 25% per day time through providing lightening to school children
? To orient the 100 households with use of alternate energy solutions & new environment friendly technologies and O&M
? Sensitize and aware communities for the protection of wild life specially Nailgai in Adhigam Union Couuncil

Activities:

a) Baseline Survey in Target Households
Target village will be selected though detailed village verification and secondary data appraisal. DDAT will implement this project in Village Sukh Pur that fall in the following criterion
? Village is not having any electricity facility
? Village is not served by any other agency regarding Solar Energy Intervention
? Village are most neglected in terms of social development
? Village is inhabited by poor communities
This would be followed by a comprehensive household Survey to identify target households. In targeted village a Community Organization will be formed in order to address their environmental issues and introduction of cost effective solar panels.

b) Provision of Home Based Solar Panels to target households
DDAT will provide Solar panels to targeted 150 households, through a selection made on set parameters - falling in the primary selection criterion for HH who are not having any electricity facility in their houses; however DDAT will prefer to consider following additional criterion while selecting target households
? HH headed by women
? HH having a person with disability or chronic illness
? HH having 2-3 children of school going age
? HH where women practice vocational skills for livelihoods

c) Community Organization formation:
One village organization (CO) will be formed and strengthened. The objective of the CO formation will be to organize the community for their mutual benefits and help to identify the most potential and initial beneficiaries of the solar lights. DDAT will encourage 70 % of targeted village to be the member of the CO. These memberships will include 50% participation from women. Through a democratic process, office bearers will be selected in each CO, who includes President, General Secretary and Treasure. These office bearers will comprise three members Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Committee in their respective target villages. The CO will steer the project activities in the targeted village. O&M Committee shall be formed for each village which shall ensure the suitable sustainability of the proposed project.
d) Capacity Building of CO.
The office bearers of CO will be imparted with capacity building /trainings on proper functioning and CO. These trainings include:

e) Organizational Management & Book Keeping
One day training will be organized for office bearers of CO. A total of 30 participants will participate in this training. The training content include concept of CO, Role of Activists , Responsibilities of Office Bearers , Saving mobilization , Communication skills , Resource Utilization , book keeping.

f) Repair and Maintenance of Solar Products
A one day Trainings will be organized for office bearers of CO. A total of 30 participants will participate in this training. The training content include Introduction of Product and specifications; warranty guidelines; precautions and support; repair and maintenance. The participants will be involved in demo installation and will be given orientation about the switching on/off and regular maintenance of the lights.
g) Procurement of Solar Lights
DDAT will execute a competitive tender process for the procurement of Solar Lights under this project. In this regard a 3 member tender evolution committee will be formed through resolution of DDAT governing body. while procuring the solar lights , where ensure quality and price at key qualifying criteria , it will ensure the successful bidder has agreed for one-year maintenance and repair warranty for all solar products .

h) Installation of solar Household Modules.
The solar Household Modules including solar fan, 2 sever bulbs, one battery and one penal with other appliances. Solar household module will be provided to each of the community in the village. Project technical team with the help of CO and the solar firm will jointly provide support to use the appliances carefully and safely. Project technical team will help to install the fan, penal and severs in each household. A formal agreement will be signed with the beneficiary to make sure that appliances will not be sold out in any case. In case of any damages or deficiency the project team will be contacted.
Meanwhile, 10 street light polls will also be installed at main locations which will support villager to access to houses or go out at night time.

i) Project Launching Orientation Ceremony and distribution of house hold models
A detailed orientation is proposed for program introduction, its objectives, project strategy and the required level of stakeholder participation. Through this approach feedback can be registered in terms of inputs from key players in the relevant stakeholders from the beginning of the project with the spots of synergy and avoiding duplication of the resources.
DDAT intends to engage district level stakeholders in a detailed orientation exercise which will invite government official?s media bodies and elected representatives among others. A detailed introduction of program including its objectives, geographical coverage, project strategy and framework of stakeholder engagement will be discussed through this activity.
Since the activity is aimed for increased stakeholder coordination, DDAT proposes, a one day orientation sessions. This activity is aimed at inviting greater participation and accountability to project interventions. Through this activity the co-operation of UNDP- GEF will be highlighted. Further a technical feedback is to be recorded from the stakeholders which will ultimately include into refined /improved project interventions on the basis of lesson learnt and stakeholder feedback.
With support of community organization- CO DDAT will develop distribution plan of targeted for distribution of solar penal in distribution ceremony. This ceremony will help in distributing solar Household module at one place and, also, will help to properly mobilize and orient the communities through multimedia about the use, handling and benefits of using solar lanterns. The each beneficiary will be provided the installation facility without any charges.

j) Orientation sessions for beneficiaries on proper utilization of solar energy
DDAT team will pay regular field visits for monitoring of schemes and organizing awareness sessions for targeted households at CO level. The women members of CO will also participate in these sessions. DDAT resource person will sensitize them towards the sustainable use of energy. The participants will be oriented for the best use of solar equipment provided as echo friendly asset.

k) Installation of UNDP-GEF sign boards and Branding Tags
Program visibility is vital for both promotion and accountability of any development intervention. DDAT will install three type of sign boards (a) at Project Office (b) at the Entrance of Project Village and (c) in the target village point of project area (d) UNDP GEF Stickers will be placed on all Solar Lights. DDAT will also develop and publish project related IEC material

l) Two days? training of youth
The selected youth will be given project orientation before setting training program for them. A two days training workshop will be organized for them in order to build their sufficient skills so that they may be in position to handle, repair of the installed solar products including distributed solar fans, bulbs, panels, and batteries households? level. The two days training workshop will be organized on the theme as ?Maintenance of solar energy products including fans, bulbs, panels, batteries?. This activity will help in leaving a sufficient pool of well-trained youth in the village in order to deal with the repair and maintenance issues with the installed solar flood lights and the distributed lanterns.
This training will also be focusing on awareness and taking measures regarding the protection of wild life particularly Nilgai in union council Adhigam and its surroundings. It is known through baseline and community discussons that there is good number of Nilgai (blue bull) is available but due to expected threats of poaching and hunting its number is depleting day by day. Communities will be aware to save entire wild life species who are under threat and their lives are at several risks.
