Project Goal

Adopted environment friendly approach to develop Ecotourism and Biodiversity Conservation @ Keenjhar Lake


This project involves helping to minimize the adverse effects of traditional tourism on the natural environment and enhance the cultural integrity of the local people under constituted objectives:

? Establish a traditional massive-eco-tourist floating-boat-restaurant voyage made with wood, decorated being traditionally and culturally rich inside and outside, homing to local cuisine ultimately attracting tourists and benefitting rural women for income generation.
? Engage 20 rural women to cook local food with traditional manner accessed by built floating boat regularly for tourist

? Educate people and enable them to enjoy and learn about the natural, historical, and cultural characteristics of unique environments while preserving the integrity lake site and stimulating the economic development opportunities in local communities through managing the waste and extending services for promoting eco0tourasim


Activities

Prime Step 1
? Establish a ecofriendly floating restaurant for tourist in Keenjhar providing
? Resort hut at the bank of Keenjhar
? Mass awareness and capacity building of communities
? Promoting indigenous food

STEP 2

Establishing links and support to local level agencies, NGOs, CBOs and media to strengthening local initiatives for participating in the proposed project. Support establishment of supporting networks among NGOs, media, CBOs, and establish linkages between networks for promotion of eco-tourism.
Organize half-yearly meetings of focal points, district liaison points, and non-agency groups separately for the best deliverables.
Organize and co-ordinate activities for the observance of ?Keenjhar Day? in the name of Memory of Mai Noori annually.
Information dissemination for mainstreaming, awareness building campaign among general people about Keenjhar eco-tourism development initiatives
Organize training including identification of human development (capacity building) needs for different group of stakeholders at Keenjhar lake particularly involved irrigation tourism department and
Establishing ?Keenjhar Resource Center? and tourist desk be established
Outreach and dissemination through website, mass media, newsletter, library and awareness materials
Disseminate positive stories of Keenjhar World through means of social communication including radio.
