Market Driven Propmotion of Fuel Efficient Stoves in Haripur District
Market Driven Propmotion of Fuel Efficient Stoves in Haripur District
PHKN has been working on promotion of fuel efficient stoves in district Haripur with the assistance of UNDP-GEF SGP. It has achieved remarkable progress in replication of fuel efficient stoves in hilly areas of the district.

It now further proposes following activities to promote market driven approach of the promotion of fuel efficient stoves in three union councils of district Haripur.

Objective 1: Promoting fuel efficient stoves use and market in Haripur through social marketing and entrepreneurship

3. Organize Road Shows, awareness campaigns, seminars and community mobilization for the creating demand of the fuel efficient stoves in the communities.
4. To provide business counseling support to the selected and trained black-smiths and introduce them as trained craftsman of fuel efficient products, such as fuel efficient stoves
5. Formation of youth groups, particularly of women and train them on fuel efficient stoves, climate change and encourage their role in promotion of the energy efficiency, reduction of indoor air pollution
6. Installation of 250 metal fuel efficient stoves through trained black-smiths in the target villages/settlements.
7. Organize village Melas, hygiene promotion campaigns and sessions on indoor air pollution and mitigation measures in the villages

Objective 2: Develop and strengthen collaborative mechanism for the promotion of climate change mitigation measures in the area

8. Promote culture of tree plantation, particularly the fruit trees in the houses that use fuel efficient stoves
9. Collaboration with Pakistan Forest Institute and institutionalize energy efficiency, reduce deforestation in the area. The collaboration may include joint visits, meetings and support for joint interventions. PHKN will sign and MOU with PFI for promotion of energy efficiency and promotion of non-timer forest products
10. Organize a National Conference on ?Fuel Efficiency: in the wake of climate change, to explore challenges and prospects in the country. The conference may be organized together with Ministry of Climate Change, Pakistan Forest Institute
11. Organize a training of approximately 50 women on budding and grafting of fruit trees in collaboration with Pakistan Forest Institute
