Community’s awareness raising for protecting and conserving the environment as well as strengthening the skill of women group institution
Project Objective:
To increase and enlarge mangroves at the coastal areas as well as to improve
community?s household income through undertaking various activities.

Project Location: Aldeia Beacou, Suco Aidabaslala, Atabae Subdistrict, Bobonaro district

Project Beneficiary: Direct Beneficiary = 75 people (40 males and 35 females) and Indirect Beneficiary = 200 people (100 males and 100 females)

Project Activities and Outcomes:

Activity 1. Provide technical training on developing handicraft and horticulture for women and young girls

Outcome 1. At the end of the project, the group members have already had a skill on producing their handicrafts as well as implementing horticulture

Activity 2. Establish fish pond under mangrove trees as an alternative method for conserving mangroves
Outcome 2. At the end of project, at least a fish pond has been built for conserving fishes. As
a result from building fish pond, the level of the community?s income is increased to 80% with a very great outcome as community lives in a prosperity lives.

Activity 3. Promoting agro-forestry farming practices in order for increasing the household income and protecting the environmental risks through growing vegetables, trees and etc.
Outcome 3. At the end of the project, the community has already had their own agro-forestry
farming area which aims for increasing their household income as well as protecting the environmental risks

Activity 4. Growing and conserving mangroves at the coastal areas.
Outcome 4. At the end of the project, some of degraded mangrove areas have already
been planted with mangroves. As a result from growing mangroves, the income level of the community members along the coastal area is increased to 80 % through selling fish. In addition,
wastes are reduced to 35 % at the sea level
