Project Characteristics and Results
Replication of project activities
Initiatives like the efforts of a coastal and most vulnerable community like Moataa to conserve its natural resources and build climate proof infrastructure to be able to adapt to climate change impacts must be documented. The key lessons learnt with best practises shall be replicated and up scaled in other vulnerable coastal communities in Samoa and other small island states (SIDS) to address vulnerability and how they are able to come up with practical and technical solutions to resolve issues addressed must be showcased.
Capacity - Building Component
Local communities have aways had a close relationship with their natural resources, however, ways of maintaining them have become considerably challenging due to climate change. Livelihoods have been affected so a need was to educate and create awareness about how to lead sustainable lives that do not damage the environment. This was achieved through workshops carried out by government counterparts from MNRE.
