Promote the use of non-timber forest product in sustainable way in Ban Bormai, Long District, Luangnamtha Province
Ban Bormai is a home place of Akha tribe, Long district, Luangnamtha Province. The main occupation of people here is doing rice farm, livestock and base on natural resources for basic needs of foods. Ban Bormai is an area that riches of natural resources, the most outstanding one are non-timber forest products, which are potential for economic-social development of the village. Moreover, it?s a large hilliness which is suitable for animal husbandry. However, in nearly future the non-timber forest products will be decreased due to slash-and-burn the large area for rice farming is increasing in each year. The project aims to promote the use of non-timber forest products effectively, and protect environmental resource as well as biodiversity for the sustainable use and forest area classification for community management and set up the rule and regulations at village level for natural resources protection and conservation.
