Addressing energy service needs of communities
Addressing energy service needs of communities
The main objective of the project is to present and promote sustainable, community-based practical solutions that provide access to low carbon energy, expanded opportunities, access to knowledge, and capacity building for civil society organizations, as well as contribute to the reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions. The project supports local communities in their efforts to introduce sustainable energy lifestyle as the decentralization reform in Ukraine opens new opportunities and financial mechanisms. It strengthens local capacities and skills in terms of access to renewable energy in communities. Major component of the project is the installation of the solar power station as a demonstration of possibilities of using low carbon technologies for the community needs . In addition, public events, spreading informational and educational materials raise awareness of the community on the topic. Moreover, involvement of the public in solving ecological and social problems of the community together with local self-government bodies is done by organizing working groups, roundtables, etc. Partnership building and sharing best practices help to maintain project results and continue to work on using sustainable energy in communities.
