Introducing community renewable energy concept and wider stakeholders participation
The Project aims at solving the problems of communities participation in the energy projects, that are diverse (technical, technological, knowledge, experience), and ultimately the need of communities participation and empowering is becoming essential. Hence, the Project should find the solution in communities through strengthening local capacities and skills. The project objective is to introduce a sustainable, decentralized; community-based mechanism with its relevant technological and organizational components in small and medium urban and rural communities, aiming at contributing to the mitigation targets under Ukraine?s INDC. The project demonstrates how to initiate and scale up local community energy initiatives to create a wider community energy movement.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms
10 videos - social advertisements on the benefits of access to low carbon energy, community capacity development and initiatives in this area - were created.
Case Study on low carbon energy access co-benefits was developed on the basis of the GEF SGP grant projects? best practices and lessons learned. Case Study includes analysis of concomitant advantages, scaling up and replication opportunities, collection of information on community-oriented solutions, identification of the most effective technologies.
Recommendations on energy-efficient advantages and opportunities of using "green" tax by the citizens have been developed and a study on the topic "Green" tariff as a mechanism for stimulating low carbon energy" in order to disseminate this information among the communities has been conducted.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
A competition of community environmental initiatives was conducted in order to provide micro-grants for the realization of projects on low carbon energy access co-benefits. The project proposal of Khrestivka community became the winner of the competition. The initiative supported solar energy use for water heating in the kindergarten in Nadezhdivka village, which has already been successfully implemented and positively influenced ecology, citizens' health and allowed to save costs for the other needs of the community.
