UBORA REDUCING PESTICIDE ABUSE
Enhance the capacity of local communities in minimizing use of pesticides for improved health and avoidance of pollution in Mukono District.
This will be achieved by increased awareness and knowledge of communities on POPs, POP Pesticides and other pesticides issues; engaging them to adopt and apply BATs and BEPs such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and use of alternatives products; establish links between community and compliant stockists, stockist and govt. agencies for compliant products; and then motivate best performers.
The strategy is to sensitize key stakeholders and partners, then focus on a few target community members including youths and women and engage them through practical training and behavior change communication, to change the mindset of others and act.
