EWAD ELIMINATING MERCURY USE IN GOLD MINES
To eliminate the use of mercury in the artisanal and small scale gold mining communities of Busia District.

The objectives of the project are to: (i) Increase participation of Busia Small Scale gold miners by 80%, in the elimination of mercury use in gold processing by 2018. (ii) To establish 1 mercury-free gold processing demonstration centre in Busia.

The project will be carried out in the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) communities in the sub-counties of Busitema, and Sikuda of Busia District, Eastern Uganda.
