Elaboration of the technology of transition to domestic organic fertilizers of agricultural enterprises of Cherikov district
Project goal: Prevention/reduction of the impact of chemicals on the environment and human health by development of the technology of the Cherikov district agricultural enterprises transition to domestic liquid organic fertilizers (on the basis of the pilot enterprise CSE "Yezersky").
Project tasks:
1. Organize a partnership for the implementation of the Project between authorities, agricultural enterprises, non-profit organizations, business representatives, including local-level solutions aimed at reducing the use of mineral fertilizers containing hazardous chemicals in agriculture.2. Preparation of agricultural areas for the introduction of technology for the transition to organic liquid fertilizers and the selection of crops (beets, maize, etc.) for the development of a pilot project for the use of this technology, taking into account the available agricultural equipment in the CSE "Yezersky".3. Training of personnel of the CSE "Yezierski" on the method of applying organic fertilizers for selected crops.4. Development of the methodology for introducing organic fertilizers for agricultural crops in the CSE "Yezersky".5. Training of specialists of agricultural enterprises in the Cherikov district on the technology of transition to organic fertilizers with field demonstrations.6. Conducting information activities to raise public awareness of the management of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and chemicals. Dissemination of information on the results of the pilot initiative among representatives of agricultural enterprises, authorities of the Republic of Belarus.
Expected results:
1.Organized partnership with authorities, agricultural enterprises, non-profit organization to promote solutions at the local level aimed at reducing the use of persistent organic pollutants in agriculture. 2. An agricultural area of 5 hectares has been prepared for the introduction of technology for the transition to organic fertilizers 3. The technique of introducing organic liquid fertilizers of domestic production for agricultural crops in the CSE "Yezersky" on the territory of 5 hectares has been worked out. 5. At least 15 specialists of agricultural enterprises of Cherikivsky district went through the training on technology of transition to organic fertilizers with field demonstrations. 6. At least 5 informational articles on the pilot initiative, the urgency of the problem of substitution of mineral fertilizers and the achievements of the initiative in the course of its implementation (media, Internet portals, printed publications) have been posted, and at least 150 agricultural enterprises in the Mahileu region have received electronic letters on the issue.7. At least 30 participants of the round table got acquainted with the results of the project and the technologies of using organic fertilizers in agriculture for large agricultural producers.8. No less than 1000 agricultural enterprises of the Republic of Belarus have been informed about the results of the project.9. Information work was carried out with 100 agricultural enterprises of the Mogilev region on responsibility for the illegal storage and use of persistent chemicals in agriculture.10. Information was provided to the population of the Cherikov district, at least 10,000 inhabitants, on the impact on the environment and on humans of persistent organic pollutants and other hazardous chemicals.11. A volunteer group was formed to search for unauthorized POPs dumps in the Cherikivsky district.
