Enhancing capacity through technology transfer to improve learning for Environmental Science Students of Njala University, Community Based Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)
The project seeks to improve capabilities of students, Community Based Organizations and Non Governmental Organizations in designing and implementing practical environmental solving problems through the establishment of a computer laboratory with the appropriate environmental instruments and taught lessons. The project will foster a strong sense of collaborative partnership with international learning institutions and organizations focusing on the environmental management and awareness drive.The trainees/beneficiaries will be equipped to handle difficulty environmental management issues upon completion of their training programmes.
The project will immediately benefit 17% female students and 83% male students (12 females and 59 males) for the undergraduate program and 19% female students and 81% male students (5 females versus 21 males) for M.Sc. programme and 50 people from CBO and CSO groups. In the larger context, the entire Njala University will benefit especially students and lecturers in the Natural Sciences. In addition, the Njala Community will also benefit from the products and services, and it would benefit institutions like Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone (EPA-SL), National Protected Area Authority (NPAA), Sierra Leone Meteorological Department (SLMD), Sierra Leone Standards Bureau (SLSB), Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS), Ministry of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment (MLCPE), Pharmacy Board Sierra Leone (PBSL), etc.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
An estimated ninety-seven (97) students are expected to be fully trained in handling, demonstrating the use of computers, environmental gadgets and softwares; and 50 staff of NGOs and CBOs trained. These people will be gainfully employed by institutions and Non Governmental organizations working in the environment sector. These include Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone (EPA-SL), National Protected Area Authority (NPAA), Sierra Leone Meteorological Department (SLMD), Sierra Leone Standards Bureau (SLSB), Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS), Ministry of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment (MLCPE), Pharmacy Board Sierra Leone (PBSL) etc.
Policy Impact
As a capacity building project, no policy will be produced however the project will serve to remind authorities to advocate for strong Policy formulation on capacity development in the Environment sector.
