Solid and Medical Waste Management in 8 Community Health Centers (CHC) and Host their Community
The goal of this intervention is to reduce harm caused by unsafe disposal of Solid and medical waste in CHC?S and their host communities; increase the number and proportion of people with access to safe and affordable drinking water; and further creates job and income opportunities for community members in the Barri, Makpele and Tonkia chiefdoms. If this is achieved, it will reduce the high incidences of environmental illnesses affecting children, women and the elderly. Air pollution caused by burning will also be reduced; death of domestic animals caused by swallowing of plastic materials will also be reduced; alternative income generation opportunities emerge; death caused by unsafe drinking water reduced as community members and CHC staff takes full responsibility to manage their own waste in a safer and environmental friendly manner
