Community Based Wetland Conservation in Kabul
Community Based Wetland Conservation project in Kabul is mainly focusing on the identification of conservation loopholes through conducting research on Kole Hashmat Khan Wetland?s resources and confronted issues. One of the main initiative under this project is to clean the areas from the wastes especially the plastic wastes by in placing a mechanism for waste management as well awareness raising.

Project sustainability
The Kol-e-Hashmat Khan Wetland Community Council is working closely with Afghanistan Young Greens on the managing of waste Kol-e-Hashmat Khan Wetland. The Council has has been trained and has the capacity to continue the waste management activities.
The project has established environmental committees who are trained on environmental issue. These committees are now more aware of value of the wetland, and they are involved in the planning and conservation of the area. The committees in the villages are more responsible and take an important role in protection of Kol-e-Hashmat Khan.
For the management of wastes, carts have been provided to councils and a mechanism has been set to regularly remove wastes from wetland area.
