Preservation of local sheep breeds through revival of artisanal woolen products through transfer of techniques of sustainable and organic wool processing in small communities
The demand for sheep wool has decreased significantly in the last decade due to a series of factors worldwide. The project aims at increasing the incentives that the local farmers have in keeping some local breeds by helping the creation of a market for artisanal wool products. It consists in bringing together the creativity of some mainstream designers with the basic training of the farmers for processing of wool in small quantities. In the past projects, it has been noticed that it is essential coupling the high quality artistic design of the final products with the correct know ? how of wool processing at the local producers.
