Protection of water springs and promotion of knowledge products.
Protection of water springs and promotion of knowledge products.
The project will fence 3 springs in Tuv aimag?s Bayanchandmani soum, 1 spring in Tuv aimag?s Sumber soum and 1 spring in Tuv aimag?s Bayantsogt soum, and plant elms and bushes along the rivers Shivert, Saikhan, Tsagaan Chuluut and Zuunmod. A green belt of 2-3 rows of trees will be planted around each spring to prevent human intrusion and trampling by cattle. Such protection will reduce trampling of the swampy surroundings by cattle and their contamination by cattle urine and dung, enabling the natural recovery of soil and plant cover.
The project will evaluate the work undertaken by the GEF SGP in Mongolia for the past 14 years and disseminate the relevant experience and lessons learnt among the public. As part of such evaluation, it will evaluate the projects implemented by CBOs and NGOs with the GEF SGP funding from 2003 to 2014 and disseminate the relevant experience and lessons learnt to others. It will also evaluate every 2 years the landscape activities undertaken since 2015.
