Introducing Conservation Farming in Zeyeama clan, Zorzor District, Lofa County.
The major thrust of this project is to contribute to reducing the extreme pressure impose on Forest land by farmers during farming activities by improving on best agricultural practices (crop rotation) and output, improving diet diversity, increasing income generation opportunities through formation of Community Saving & Loan Association (CSLA) and Farmer Field School (FFS) groups and limit the killing of bush animals especially the protected species as well as creating awareness to protect the growing population in Liberia and the world at large against the effect of climate change in communities around the Wonegizi, through provision of seeds (ground nut, cowpeas and sweet corn) to the established FFS groups and rear livestock (small ruminants-goats, sheep and poultry (local chickens and improved pigs) and Aquaculture (fish farming) where inhabitants in communities around the Wonegizi protected area will have access to live domestic animals as well as meat and fish products at an affordable price to nearest market place in Konia town. At the same time the organization will build the capacity of communities? dwellers around the Wonegizithroughbest agricultural practices and conservation trainings and awareness risingon the role bush animals plays in the ecosystem especially the forest where different species of protected wild life are considered to be their natural habitats as well as known for ideal breeding place. This project will also seek to engage a broad range of stakeholders at both micro and meso levels in the conservation of these endangered terrestrial animal species. During the breeding months, these endangered terrestrial wild life animal species are known to breed in their natural habitats---the forest, but currently no protection measures are given to them by hunters crop production farmers and other local dwellers, and as such there is large destruction of these animals especially the female ones during the rainy season where breeding is on the increased. The destruction of these wildlife animals including their young?s poses a serious threat to the maintenance of the Wonegizi protected forest and the ecosystem at large and this act, is carried out on a yearly basis by many unprofessional hunters and itinerant fishing groups in the adjacent communities. It has been notice that most people are not aware of the laws designating these species as endangered and there is need to create intensive community awareness on this. Moreover, most people are not aware that alternative livelihood sources can be created in communities around Wonegizi especially if incorporated into ecotourism and conservational programs like the rearing of small ruminants (goat & sheep), Poultry, fish farming, snail and formation of farmer field school groups and Community saving & Loan Associations. Given that the species known to breedon the forest land of Liberia are endangered globally, protecting their natural habitat in Liberia and ensuring all stakeholders are aware of its conservation status, would ensure that Liberia fulfills its national and international conservation obligations.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2016 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from September by the project team
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Knowledge transfer and capacity building based on personal involvement of local people are at the heart of this project and hence dissemination is an integral aspect of what is planned.
