Okakarara Rural Livelihood Support and Land Restoration project.
Project aims at restoring and rehabilitating degraded grazing lands as well as the composition structure of environment leading to better performing ecosystems. Improvements on ecosystems generally will lead to carbon sequestration, better water yields and quality. This will reduce environmental risks and improve the sustainability of livelihoods while increasing productive potential of land and promote economic empowerment and value addition to raw products in rural areas.
Restoring degraded lands is essential for human livelihoods and well-being, long-term food security, climate stability, and biodiversity conservation. In order to counteract land degradation and improve livelihoods, we need to restore vegetations and increase the productivity of existing agricultural lands at the same time.
The base will be in Okakarara town but there are 8 selected villages where actual project activities will happen.
