? A project sensitization workshop with 30 participants from the beneficiary community, Janack, on the Project?s objectives and activities. The workshop reached a consensus of the key outputs and outcomes as well as the role and responsibilities of each stakeholder during implementation.
? The original farm was extended to cover 1 hectare which was fenced with chain link wire and and then divided into 4 components namely: horticulture, beekeeping, animal farming and nursery.
? To facilitate water availability in the garden 4 concrete Reservoirs and 4 standpipes were put in each component.
? A training workshop on bee keeping was successfully in preparation for bee keeping in one of the components. Upon completion of the training, the school was provided with bee keeping materials.
? A training session was also conducted for the nursery component and at the end of the training, garden tools and materials were provided. by the provision of of gardening tool.
? Trained vegetable gardeners on improved horticultural production techniques
? The horticulture plot was demarcated into 265 individual beds which were shown to various types of vegetables.
- A store and honey processing house was constructed at the entrance of the first component of the garden.
- The final training session conducted was on livestock farming.
- In the livestock farming component, a pen house was constructed by the beneficiaries themselves as part of their in-kind contribution to the project. The project purchased 10 sheep (8 ewes and 2 rams) which were delivered to the management committee of that component. Some supplies of essential livestock drugs were also procured with the assistance of a livestock assistance contracted from the Department of Veterinary Services who worked with the committee.
