To use boundaries of traditional farms to plant Cashew and Eucalyptus seedlings for the protection and conservation of soil and farms in Lower Badibou
The aim of this project is to plant cashew and eucalyptus seedlings along boundaries of traditional farms of six communities of Kerewan, Suwareh kunda, Kinteh ? Kunda, Saba, Gunjur and Banni; and to establish a tree nursery in Suwareh kunda, for people of the district.
This project aims at benefiting six villages of Kerewan, Suwareh ? Kunda, Kinteh ? Kunda, Saaba, Gunjur and Banni, all in Lower Badibou in the North Bank Region of the Gambia. Two people from each of the above mentioned villages will be directly responsible for the caring and management of the project on ground. The project will built in Suwareh ? Kunda a tree Nursery centre where they will be given trees to individuals to plant in their lands and within their farms. Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
2 Youth groups from each of the 6 target villages are to be engaged to participate in the implementation of the project. CYA is in constant collaboration with Village Development Committees to ensure smooth project implementation.
Notable Community Participation
CYA is entirely a community-based youth organisation set up to contribute to national development by embarking on community initiatives including environmental work. In this project, 12 youth organisations in the target villages shall be directly involved in the implementation of project activities.
