Tranch 2:
1. 3 nurseries have been completed by the end of 2017, namely Pisik (end of August), Melli ( November) and Baso (early December) all located within project location, BALOPA LLG.

2 Envisaged that each nursery would hold 3000 seedlings or young trees. However, Pisik could hold another 2000. Plans are underway to obtain additional poly-bags.

3. No seedlings have been planted yet from any of the nurseries. Pisik will have about 1000 planted in February However, many individuals have seen the need and gone ahead to plant young trees.
Seedlings will be distributed to individual members of the communities to plant because of land issues. Pisik as a primary school has land. Anticipating to plant 1000.
OUTSTANDING AND TO BE PRODUCED IN NEXT REPORT-Will be easy to determine the number of hectares, will have to estimate number of hectares with individuals. No information available yet on number of people involved including LICR members and ward councilors. Data being obtained and will be available in next reporting.

Tranch 3:
1. Sieving and filling of 2000 polybags, were planted during December 2017
2. Remainder 1000 polybags were filled and planted with seedlings in february 2018 and now ready for distribution and planting.
3. Baso nursery - First 1500 seedlings were planted in March while remainder 1500 completed in April 2018
4. Baluan nursery was dropped. Management of the nursery was considered to be a challenge. Baluan is a volcanic island and rocky, so getting materials on site became a problem, with unforeseen high costs.
5. Nursery completion with each nursery having capacity of 5000 seedlings.
6. Nursery care and management training was conducted with 20 participants.
7. Community assistance to source seedlings from other forested areas was a positive opportunity to enhance community support and sustain project.
