Msunduzi Integrated Catchment and River Health Situated Learning Programme for Unemployed Post-Matric Youth: Ashdown and Imbali Townships of Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal
? To build the knowledge, skills and work experience of 16 unemployed post-matric youth in Catchment Management, River Health and related environmental issues to improve the River health of the Msunduzi River and the quality of the local lived environment in Ashdown and Imbali.
? To promote the livelihood opportunities for the 16 participants directly and indirectly at least an additional 48 unemployed youth in the local communities through the initiation and implementation of practical community development or social entrepreneurial activities related to the improvement of the Msunduzi River and the quality of the local environment.
? To visibly demonstrate through this pilot project, the feasibility and viability of between two and four environmentally oriented community development or social enterprises and their contribution towards environmental protection which could be replicated and expanded within the Edendale Valley and more broadly.

? To capacitate the institutional capacity of Liberty NPO and Sakhisizwe Community Education Project (SCEP).
