Improving Agro Ecology and Livelihood Approaches for Sahariya tribe in Shivpuri
Project will basically depend on improving leadership, enhancing traditional skills of Sahariya, generating livelihood opportunities, improving the overall quality of life with ensuring sustainability of biodiversity.
Project Objectives:
1. To improve Agro Ecology and ensuring sustainable biodiversity.
2. To strengthen and facilitate the CBOs and cadres for extending the benefits of Govt. Program and schemes to Sahariya especially related to agriculture and natural resources.
3. Securing livelihood of Sahariya Community through employment generation.
4. To improve effectiveness of governance system through convergence mechanism.
Project Activities:
1. Team deployment, training and orientation on project strategies.
2. Formation and strengthening of SHG/CBOs and cadre committees at village level.
3. Gabion structure, gully plug and farm pounding will reduce the soil erosion and increase the irrigated land areas.
4. To ensure registration and availability of ration cards for left out families for food security.
5. Exposure visit and skill building training for value addition of collection of raw material, storage, processing of MFP.
6. Demonstration of honey processing units, facilitating marketing linkage and demonstrate value addition in MFP collection and marketing.
Project Outputs:
1. Enhanced traditional skills of Sahariya Community will result in improving their lifestyle and increasing the opportunities of value addition and small scale processing of Minor forest produce.
2. Community will raise their voice against social and gender discrimination, through training and other IEC activities.
3. Agricultural pattern will be more diverse due to change in cropping pattern with mixed and multi cropping pattern.

Project Characteristics and Results
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
During the project various knowledge management tools will be developed, including various case studies, IEC, Videos, Surveys and their utilization will be done. Communication of results will be facilitated through case studies, success stories reports, newsletters and print & electronic media.
Notable Community Participation
Increased partnership of women in the planning and implementation phase of the project will select and train (2 male, 2 youth, 2 female, 2 children) 8 cadres from each village on Govt. Welfare schemes, livelihood programs, leadership development, and ways to take benefit from these schemes.
