Water Energy Innovation for Reducing CO2

Implementing NGO/CBO: Akha Group at the Golden Triangle (AGGT): Established on 19 September 2003 as a group and later registered as an NGO in Chiangrai Province, the group is permitted to work directly with ethnic groups by the governor. The development issues that the group is familiar with are community forest, research on sustainable land use in mountainous area, and northern river basin development.

Through the radio and pamphlets.

Project Results

Co-management: There are co-managements from many groups of people and governments. We do many activities together, such as forestation.

Establishment of network/ fund/ new institute: Tourism network by Doi Sa Ngo community (started for many years, but not in shape)/ Youth community for environment protection/ Huay Mak Coffee Public Enterprise

Concrete outcomes/ achievements: Protected forest area around 40,000 Rai, renewable energy community learning centers, coffee public enterprise, tourism network who is creating its own OTOP products, communities for environment protection at least 14 communities, stability of biodiversity and food, cooperation with other public organizations and government organizations.

Lesson Learned: Forest fire was one of the problem occurred by hunting and animal farming groups. People be more aware of the fire because fire could destroy coffee farms, which is built according to the project.
