Healthier Lifestyle for Rural Women and Children through Reduction of Persistent Organic Pollutants and Improved Sanitation and Domestic Water Supply and creating Income-generating Opportunities
This planning grant will assist the Grantee in putting together a full proposal that will assist in the
construction of Smokeless Kitchens in pilot communities in the tikina Wailevu of Cakaudrove. These smokeless kitchen will help reduce the level of Persistent Organic Pollutants such as Dioxins and Furans released to the atmosphere during burning of wood used as fuel wood in cooking activities. At the same time remove exposure risks of these chemicals from women, girls and children during cooking activities using open fires. This grant will be used to consult the relevant stakeholders and confirm support the relevant stakeholders and confirm support and validity of the concept, at the same time expanding the concept into a full project proposal.
