A community initiative to conserve reef fish and marine biodiversity in the Maldives (Naifaru) Note:This was a project approved by NSC in round 4 of call for proposal in 2013. However, it was shelved as the proponent already had an ongoing project. That project has been completed now and all thereporting has been completed satisfactorily.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Local staff from NGO and the community would be trained; awareness-based activities and information dissemination through brochures and leaflets on the importance of marine life particular fauna.
Notable Community Participation
Local staff would be obtained from the community; implementation would involve local builders, local importers and NGO staff in addition to international volunteers.
