Coral gardening and marine conservation
Apai Manono marine conservation project was an OP3 funded project which was then put on hold due to high turnover and a few issues of capacity development in the community. The coral gardening was partly funded with remaining tranches not released because SGP went through a lot of staff turnover during OP3-OP4 period.
The 2009 tsunami damaged all of the coral gardening hence why the village is reapplying for funding of the same project. A planning grant is granted for the village to re develop their project and design it with a lot lessons learnt the community noticed and experienced during OP3.
