Kharaa river willow grove
Kharaa river willow grove
In recent years, an above average amount of sand has accumulated along the Kharaa River bed and its water levels have decreased by 20-30 per cent because its bushes have either been eaten up by pests or overused by local residents for fuel purposes. In addition, many small rivers flowing into the Kharaa River are being exposed to gold washing and the cutting of trees in their headwaters. This project aims to protect the water resources of the Kharaa River basin, contribute to reducing sand movement, increase cooperation among the CBO members and improve their livelihoods.
