Demonstrate & create business models for Conservation of lac (Kerria lacca) through value addition products preparation technologies
Sustainable conservation of soil, water, forest and environment linked with income and employment generation will be started and at least each poorest family will be rehabilitated on the basis of Lac cultivation as well as lac based value added products preparation technology.
Project Objectives:
1. To rehabilitate the community based poorest families through the training of lac based value added products preparation technology.
2. To provide all scientific know how about working apparatus, utensils and different dyes, color, decorative items and agro based materials etc.
3. To provide buy back arrangement of the prepared lac value added products through framing federation of SHGs in each state.
4. Impact analysis of the programme.
Project Activities:
Identification of beneficiaries (by collecting the data on questionnaire, PRA method, survey, meeting, discussion & personal interview and to organized training in these target area.)
2. Assessment of socio-economic condition of the beneficiary before implementation of the project.
3. Establishment of at least one centre within 10 villages of different NGO partners by arranging all the utensils, dyes, etc, button lac, base materials, decorative and other input materials at appropriate places for starting the work at proper and systematic manner.
4. Providing training for the value addition of bio-resources, agriculture materials with lac i.e. a). cow-dung and cow urine (gobarkagamla, dustbin, mosquito coils, bioDAP, organic fertilizer, smokeless biocake, gobar and lac based idols). b) soil, bagasse items, bamboo, wood, banana stems, waste papers, horn and bone of dead animals, cosmetic items i.e. bangles, lipstics, nailpaint etc.
5. Arrangement of seed and nursery plants of lac host plants and harvesting of produced lac.
6. Arrangement of seed lac (brood lac) for the beneficiaries of target area.

Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
Both men and women will be equally involved in carrying out the activities of the project. Farming federation of SHGs will be formed in each state for providing buy back arrangement of the prepared lac value added products. Market links will be established for their value added products with the help of different haat, mela and exhibition points at different places of India and abroad through engaging the beneficiaries of the projects. Men, women drop out adult children of any caste and religion can adopt this technology without any hindrance.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Demonstrations and awakening programs will be conducted about hi-tech nursery of lac host plants, scientific methods for lac cultivation and value addition of bio resources/ agriculture materials with use of lacs. 1 centre will be established within 10 villages of different NGOs partners by arranging all the utensils, dyes etc, button lac, base materials, decorative and other input materials at appropriate places for starting the work in a systematic manner. Knowledge will be given regarding pruning of lac host plants for beneficiaries of the target area. Production cum training centre will be established.
