Securing the coastal land in Anse Kerlan Avangard with counter-erosion structures thru' community-based adaptation processes while buidling capacity and resilience of the community against climate change induced coastal erosion at selected community sites
This project is seen as a second phase building on the preparatory work undertaken in a grant by Mangroves For the Future with coastal and marine area mapping, design of appropriate structure and land restoration to counter erosion in a community setting. Phase one is satisfactorily completed and the community-based organisation and partners have mutually agreed on selected site for intervention that will benefit all parties concerned with coastal erosion in the district. As the project is quite costly, the CBO will maintain their engagement with the Government for additional funding as well as with other partners to leverage funds that will help complete the project work in the desired timeframe. While physical work is carried on at ground level, the CBO members will be promoting the concern for coastal erosion through public awareness initiatives and media coverage of some events on the site and telling of their long story to the public as they have started in the french documentary shown several times on national TV.
