Demonstration Project on Low Energy Farmer’s House at the Rural Area in Beijing
The project site is one of the 36 pilots sites of new countryside development in Beijing. Currently, the project site is under reforming of new housing. The project will take this opportunity to demonstrate a low energy house and promote the local government to incorporate low carbon technology into the rural housing reforming programmes.
Main problems:
1.Currently, the energy consumption and carbon emission of rural housing is relatively high due to poor performance of heat preservation and insulation;
2. Farmers have lower willingness to use clean energy due to higher cost. The low energy house can improve energy efficiency and reduce energy cost.
Solutions/activities:
1. conduct baseline survey on domestic energy consumption and housing energy conservation situation of project site;
2. train local farmers on energy conservation and emission reduction;
3. demonstrate a low energy house by using energy conservation technologies and renewable energy;
4. conduct comparative research on energy conservation housing and normal housing;
5. Promote project results at another 36 pilot villages in Beijing and submit policy recommendation to local government to promote reforming of energy conservation housing.
Anticipated results/outcomes:
1. report on domestic energy consumption and housing energy conservation situation of Shijiaying village;
2. 444 farmers obtained knowledge of climate change, energy conservation and emission reduction;
3. a 150 square meters low energy house constructed by incorporating energy conservation technologies and renewable energy facilities;
4. complete analysis report on comparison of energy conservation housing and normal housing;
5. at least 82 households participate in project results promotion activities and project is reported by 10 news coverage.
