GEF SGP Regional Dialogue Workshop – Leeward Islands
The Project GEF SGP National Dialogue responds to the need to promote a networking forum amongst partners within nature conservation, as well as to attempt to create a platform of information sharing about the Small Grants Program, and its performance in Cape Verde during OP5.
The project responds specifically, to the concrete need to better expose GEF SGP´s results and actions on the ground, so that key stakeholders, including authorities can understand, analyze, and naturally respond to new OP6 challenges and demands.
The initiative proposed herein is an innovative model to promote collaborative forum with the goal to promote 'collective voices' which will allow sharing of experiences inside and outside the SGP network firstly, and secondly, strengthen capacity to influence policies at national level. Additionally, it is a strategy to boosting notions of good governance, coordination of responses and engagement of partners.
The direct beneficiaries of this project are GEF SGP grantees, which were supported between 2010 and 2014, in Maio, Fogo, Brava and Santiago islands. Government institutions like the, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Infrastructure and Maritime Economy Ministry Tourism, Industry and Energy, and Ministry of Youth, Employment and Human Resources Development are as well beneficiaries of this initiative.
