The action from this project predicts activities that will ensure better availability of water for production through the construction of social technologies, storage of rational water uses from the rain, such as: enclosing, preserving and monitoring water sources, construction of underground dams, water containment systems and terraces.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

The actions of the project will build conscience in the population and neighboring communities? inhabitants, by showing the importance of the Cerrado and its capacity to generate income.

Capacity - Building Component

The project foresee the execution of capacity building activities in agroecology and management of water resources, as well as enrichment of yards with fruit trees.

Notable Community Participation

he project ?Conservation and Administration of Natural Resources: Fertile Camps for a Sustainable Production? objectifies improving the quality of life of 50 families from the community of Ribeirão Veredinha and Grota do Engenho. The scarcity of water resources generated by the increase of eucalyptus plantations and by inadequate management of the land have impacted directly these families, making it difficult for them to remain in rural areas.

Project Results

54 families involved in the project , 17 of which are directly benefited by water storage and erosion reduction technologies;
Construction of: 7 barrages, 4 terraces and 11 containment basins - New technologies will be implanted in 12 properties.
6.5 million liters of water stored;
3 springs being preserved and fenced, corresponding to 4.5 ha;
586 seedlings acquired and planted in the backyards of the beneficiary families.
