. The main goal is to improve the quality of life and condition for production in the communities, creating a favorable environment towards sustainability and local biodiversity. The communities face common challenges related to low water distribution and land degradation that were before used for agriculture and cattle grazing.

Notable Community Participation

The project ?Sustainable Landscape: Strengthening Collective Construction, Knowledge and Biodiversity?, proposed by the Sisterhood Association Senhora de Santana, will take place in a 24 month period and benefit 67 families from the communities of Monte Alegre e Macaúbas.

Capacity - Building Component

The project proposed the implementation of dams, water containment systems, enclosing of crucial water sources and recovery of areas suffering from land degradation, execution of two courses on soil and cattle management, enrichment of yards with fruitful trees, exchange of knowledge towards consolidating experiences of community agroindustrial production, courses on fruit processing, food labeling regulations, construction of a space for the community to process fruits and provide technical assistance for the families

These activities serve as an example for the entire local population which sees results in the production and information dissemination among the local communities

Project Results

48 families benefited by the project;
400 Cerrado native seedlings were introduced in the degraded area of ??the community of Macaúbas and 622 seedlings of tropical and native fruit were planted in the backyards of the families in the communities of Monte Alegre and Macaúbas;
Two springs in an area of ??7 ha were fenced through collective work and are in the process of restoration - 1 ha of native forest in Macaúbas and 6 ha in Monte Alegre;
29 people were trained through courses on livestock and soil management and recovery of degraded areas in the two communities;
A collective kitchen was remodeled to process native and garden fruits into preserves, marmelades, etc.
Regiment of collective use of the community space and fruit processing in the Macaúbas community, involving 21 beneficiaries.
