Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Communication and outreach will be part of the capacity building actions. As a result of the training, grantees will use their own project budget lines to produce communication materials that may include posters and brochures in local language and in English. Linkages with local radio stations and also national media will be created as part of the training and articles written by the grantees with guidance from Nature Kenya. The lessons, experiences and impacts brochure will be posted into SGP website for wide distribution. Articles will be written and shared with electronic and print media and also disseminated through Nature Kenya in-house publications (Kenya Birding and Nature Net) and other national and international forums e.g. Birdlife Africa Newsletter and Birdlife International Community site.
Gender Focus
Nature Kenya strategy is to ensure that there is no single gender with more than 2/3rds majority. Deliberate effort will be made to try to increase especially women participation in the capacity building workshops. Where CSOs show evidence for no compliance with the no more than 2/3rds rule, capacity will be enhanced to ensure that gender considerations are included in their strategic plans and ensure compliance including during meetings convened within this SGP action.
