Ecofriendly Mobility
The vision this proposal is to have a future without fossil fuel dependency, through the introduction of new technologies, which includes electric mobility, with proximity to charging points.
Significant climate change effects coupled with increases in fuel prices hold one of the biggest challenges of the XXI century. In Cape Verde, it reflects in different sectors to include among others, in reliability, safety and sustainability of electric systems and transports.
Currently, these systems are subject to price volatility of fossil fuels and contribute in large part to significant emissions of CO2. Replacing the use fossil fuels with more environmentally friendly, will eventually lead Cape Verde to new platforms of efficient and sustainable technologies.
To respond to the challenges present, this present initiative is promoting a pilot activity in two distinct modules: an electric mobility for persons with disabilities and bicycles with electric batteries for municipal agents of the City of Praia.
This innovative project not only has an environmental component, but also a social agenda attached to it, which will enable persons with disabilities to have access to a sustainable way of transportation. Additionally, the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) will be avoided through the nonuse of motor vehicles by municipal agents, which will contribute to a decrease on Co2 emissions, therefore contributing to archipelago national strategy for climate change.
