Project goal:
To promote livelihood of Chambak community in order to build their resilience and cope with climate extremes while ensuring natural environment in check.
Objective 1: To improve local livelihood of Chambak community eco-tourism with provision of sufficient irrigation scheme and appropriate agricultural technologies.
Outcome 1.1: Two irrigation schemes in target sites, Amping Tor and Ta Samrong reservoirs, rehabilitated to enable irrigation of at least 750 ha rice and to benefit 3,757 famers from 850 HHs and with rice yield increased from 2 to 4 metric tonnes a hectare.
Output 1.1.1: A 30 m spillway at Amping Tor (bottom width: 5m, top width: 1.5 m and height: 5m) rehabilitated.
Output 1.1.2: At least 500 ha rice field have access to irrigation by 2 rehabilitated canals, one - 200 m and the other ? 1,500 m long, with community co-financed for rehabilitation of 1,500 m canal and placement of a culvert, connecting rice field to Amping Tor reservoir.
Output 1.1.3: Two irrigation management sub-committees established for Amping Tor and Tasamroang reservoirs established, with by-laws governing the management and maintenance of the irrigation canals adopted.
Output 1.1.4: 25 model HHs changed their practices from single to double rice cropping cycles, with wet season and flood recession rice farming using appropriate farming technologies including the application of short duration and high yield rice varieties.
Objective 2: To increase community capital as contribution to mitigating impacts from crop damage by drought.
Outcome 2.1: Ten existing saving groups at the 5 target villages (established early by Mlup Baitong in 2002 and without external financial support) are strengthened with sufficient revolving fund and improved livelihood to generate increased income.
Output 2.1.1: Ten saving groups in the five villages have the necessary capacity to run their scheme and contribute to enhancing local livelihood activities.
