Promoting Environmental Governance for Integrated Water Resources Management in Fayoum
Project Objectives:
1.Creating and maintaining good relations with the section of ?Water Orientation? in Fayoum Irrigation Department (FID);
2.Raising the training and technical assistance capabilities of ?water orientation? team in FID;
3.Raising awareness on the concepts of good governance among WUAs;
4.Building capacities of WUAs to formulate and analyze local water policies;
5.Building capacities of partner WUAs to monitor the implementation of water policies and their socio-economic impacts;
6.Developing a direct dialogue mechanism between WUAs and the department of irrigation to exchange information;
7.Validating a ?Code of Conduct for Water Users Associations? stipulating the importance of following the IWRM governance methodologies in the WUAs action.
Expected Results:
1.Integrate IWRM governance policies in local community development policies through partner WUAs
2.Trained WUAs on IWRM governance policies
3.Trained WO team on technical assistance on farmers participation in water management;
4.Adopted a code of conduct? on integrating environmental governance within WUAs action plans
5.Opened channel of dialogue between water users and irrigation and drainage officials
